Knile Davis–the dominant, when healthy, but unfortunately oft-injured Arkansas runningback has declared for the NFL draft.
According to collegefootballnews.com, he will be represented by former Hog Track & Field Olympian turned agent, Mike Conley, Sr.
Davis was a 1st-team All-SEC selection in 2010, when he rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns and led all SEC running backs in those categories.
We wish Knile good health and a return to form. He has been through a lot and is the type of player that deserves some good fortune.

Adam and I continued to explore opposite ends of the universe last weekend. I gave away another $240 with a 2-5-0 ATS performance while Adam raked $390 thanks to a 5-1-0 ATS week, pushing him to 13-1-0 ATS the past two weeks. It’s a streak like none I’ve ever seen, and we’ve been gambling together for quite a long time.
Defying expectations, I did not go in the hole after last week. I enter Week 10 with $47 cash money. Once again I will tap a line of credit with the House with my wagers this week. Meanwhile, Adam has more than doubled his initial $1,000 bankroll. He’s up to $2,308 beginning play this week. You want my advice? Pick with him…
If you didn’t join us last year or simply need to brush up on things, here is a quick refresher on the rules:
- Maximum of 10 single plays during the week
- One optional teaser and one optional parlay allowed
- Minimum of $50 wager
- Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but may borrow from the House if they go bust

It’s raining money at Adam’s house.
This stopped being a competition between Adam and me a few weeks ago. While we both stumbled out of the gate, Adam regained his footing and has put together a profitable year thus far. Meanwhile, I’ve been slowly losing money all season. Last week epitomized my season. I went into Sunday afternoon having won 5 of 6 bets. All I need was Oakland to cover 4 at home against a pathetic Jacksonville team and Chicago – one of my favorite plays of the week – to cover 6.5 points at home against Detroit on Monday Night Football.
The Raiders won by 3 and the Bears gave up a late TD to cover by six. Two points total kept me away from a 7-1 sheet and much needed profit. Instead I had to settle for a meager $30 win and 5-3-0 record. Gambling is not for the weak-hearted.
Adam has no such problems. In fact, he ran the gauntlet last week. For the second time this season Adam turned in a clean sheet. He went 4-0-0 ATS in Week Four, and we were all impressed. This time, though, he doubled it! AB ripped off a perfect week, going 8-0-0 ATS, netting a tidy $800 profit. He is literally playing with House money. All his wagers this week are covered by his profits made this season.
If things go wrong this week, I may need to take out a loan. It would be like worlds colliding. He can’t go wrong, so it’s almost certain that he’d get his money back plus the vig. I can’t get anything right, so it’s almost certain that I wouldn’t be able to make my weekly payments.
These are the things that go through my brain…
If you didn’t join us last year or simply need to brush up on things, here is a quick refresher on the rules:
- Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
- One optional teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
- Minimum of $50 wager
- Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but may borrow from the House if they go bust
Free Money!

- TEASE: Bears (-3) v. Panthers AND Browns (+8.5) v. Chargers, $120 to win $100
- Total Wagers: $450
- Max Win: $400

I wrote this last week at this time and in this space:
“Listen… Things aren’t going too well this year. I think we all know that. There’s really no need to rehash the pathetic prognostication that has occurred here at the BlogHawgs.com world headquarters. We know that mistakes have been made, and we’re going to try and fix them.”
What I meant to say was, “Adam will right the ship, while I will continue to hand over my daughter’s college money to Vinny.
Adam had a very strong week, posting a profit of $270 that brings his annual account to its highest point of the season. Meanwhile, I lost another $46 dropping me to the Danger Zone. I’m down to $257 in the bank, and this week’s wagers put me at risk of hawking my possessions just to settle up on Tuesday.
If you didn’t join us last year or simply need to brush up on things, here is a quick refresher on the rules:

Time to Rebound
Listen… Things aren’t going too well this year. I think we all know that. There’s really no need to rehash the pathetic prognostication that has occurred here at the BlogHawgs.com world headquarters. We know that mistakes have been made, and we’re going to try and fix them. To all the kids out there that will no longer be able to go to college because daddy blew the education fund, we’re sorry. Life is tough, so you may as well learn it early. You’ll be better for it.
Don’t strike up the dirge just yet, though. We have life, although I’m in ICU right now while Adam has been downgraded from critical care. Doctors perform miracles every day, and I’ve performed an autopsy on the first six weeks of the season. I feel confident things will turn around sooner than later. At least I hope so; hiding your truck from the repo man is no way to live.

Here’s your bare bones edition of Free Money. It’s been one of those weeks at BlogHawgs world headquarters.
Last week Adam shot the moon, going four out of four. His bold move paid off, pushing his ledger into the black for the first time this season. Meanwhile, I struggled to a 3-5-0 record losing $166 in the process. That keeps me underwater for the year.
If you’ve forgotten, here are the rules:
- Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
- One option teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
- Minimum of $50 wager
- Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but can buy back into the game if they go bust
Here’s to a better week…

WE ARE BACK, BABY! In most gambling circles our combined gambling profit this week of $315 creates little cause for celebration. After back-to-back losing weeks to start the year, though, Adam and I celebrate the little things. Add to it that Arkansas got pantsed on national television by Alabama (failing to cover, costing me an even more profitable week) and the small things are about all we have.
I said the past two weeks that the only way to break out of a slump is to keep playing. We did that, and the results speak for themselves. The lesson to be learned here is that sports gambling – like Wall St. investing – is a long game and not about the quick buck. We’ll have up-and down weeks, but we expect to end the year with a profit. Another good week will get both of us back in the black.
If you didn’t join us last year or simply need to brush up on things, here is a quick refresher on the rules:
- Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
- One option teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
- Minimum of $50 wager
- Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but can buy back into the game if they go bust
Adam believes he has found a winning formula. He continues to make fewer plays – four overall this week – with higher wagers. For the first time in the history of Free Money, Adam opened a line of credit with the house last week. It worked out as Adam posted a $180 profit last week, pushing his bankroll back to $708 of his initial $1,000 ante. He went 4-2-0 last week, only dropping Virginia Tech (huge upset that cost a lot of folks money) and a flier on Arkansas State to cover the number at Nebraska. Adam’s winners include Texas, UL-Monroe, Notre Dame and Michigan. My profit was a bit smaller – $135 – but I’m not complaining. My only losses were the Hogs covering 20.5 and another lost teaser bet thanks to the Bears gagging last Thursday night. I picked up wins with Stanford and UL-Monroe on Saturday and Seattle, St. Louis, and Baltimore on Sunday for a 5-2-0 winning week. My bankroll now stands at $869, down $131 after three weeks of plays.
Both of us could get back to even or better this week. Place yer bets!
Free Money!
Brett ($869)
- Notre Dame (-4.5) v. Michigan, $55 to win $50
- OVER 49, Arkansas/Rutgers, $88 to win $80
- LSU (-20.5) at Auburn, $55 to win $50
- Dolphins (+2) v. NY Jets, $55 to win $50
- Rams (+3) v. Redskins, $55 to win $50
- OVER 49.5, Giants/Panthers, $88 to win $80
- Browns (+3) v. Bills, $88 to win $80
- Cardinals (+3.5) v. Eagles, $55 to win $50
- Tease: Rams (+15), Cowboys (-3), $60 to win $50
- Total Wagers: $544
- Max Win: $490
- Last Week: 5-2-0
- Season Total: 10-12-0
Adam ($528)
- Clemson (+14) at Florida State, $110 to win $100
- UNDER 49, LSU/Auburn, $110 to win $100
- Kansas St. (+14) at Oklahoma, $110 to win $100
- Jets (-2) at Dolphins, $110 to win $100
- Total Wagers: $440
- Max Win: $400
- Last Week: 4-2-0
- Season Total: 5-10-0

We may have a problem.
In many respects, our Free Money investment program looks like the final 20 minutes of the Razorbacks game this past weekend. All of our wagers are slowly but methodically destroying us, and we feel powerless to stop it. A key difference here is that neither Adam nor I suffered a wicked blow to the head. We’re just not as good as we thought we were.
But, as I said last week, the only way to break out of the slump is to keep playing. We can either quit and say it’s a bad year 2 weeks into the season, or we can rally up and still try to scratch out a profit. We’re aiming for the latter. Proceed with caution.
Adam is throwing it down this weekend. For the first time in the history of Free Money, one of us has opened a line of credit with the house. AB has only $528 left out of his $1,000 bankroll. This week he’s put down $660 in wagers. I’m a bit more respectful of Vinny and his aluminum bat. My bankroll is down to $734 after last week’s 3-7-0 performance (5-10-0 for the year). If all of my plays hit this week, I’ll barely be back to even.
It’s time to get our money back. Place yer bets!

- Seahawks (+3.5) v. Cowboys, $55 to win $50
- Rams (+3) v. Redskins, $55 to win $50
- Ravens (+1.5) at Eagles, $55 to win $50
- Tease: Bears (+10.5), Niners (-1), $60 to win $50
- Total Wagers: $390
- Max Win: $350
Adam ($528)
- Virginia Tech (-10) at Pittsburgh, $110 to win $100
- Texas (-9.5) at Ole Miss, $110 to win $100

As frustrating as many of us found the Razorbacks game this past weekend, they looked like Alabama compared to me and Adam in Week One of Free Money. While neither of us found much to love on the board last week, I thought we’d found enough winners for at least one of us to make a profit.
I was wrong.
I stumbled out of the gate with a 2-3 record, posting a net loss of $70. Things would have been much worse for me if not for a late and surprising cover by Arkansas State. The Red Wolves looked like they were legally dead after 30 minutes of play in Eugene but easily covered the 37 points they laid to soften the blow. My “gain” was Adam’s loss, though, since he took the Ducks. Adam mustered one win this week on five plays, resulting in a $170 loss.
But like an ice cold shooter, the only way to break out of the slump is to keep playing.
If you didn’t join us last year or simply need to brush up on things, here is a quick refresher on the rules:
- Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
- One option teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
- Minimum of $50 wager
- Players must include at least one CFB and at least one NFL game in the picks
- Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but can buy back into the game if they go bust
Adam and I have different strategies going into Week Two. He’s taking the approach of fewer plays (thus fewer points of failure) with higher wagers (more risk per play), while I’ve maxed out all 10 wagers with the hope that the good outweighs the bad. If you hear on Monday that I made news like John L. Smith did this week, it’ll be easy to see who had the better strategy. With the addition of NFL games to the schedule, I’m quite confident that we’ll be able to bounce back soon.
It’s time to get our money back. Place yer bets!
