TEBOW! TEBOW! TEBOW! UH OH!

Posted by Adam Butler on October 31, 2011

Yahoo’s Michael Silver emphatically votes “Bust” over “Bronze Bust” in Canton.

So, is Tebow being judged in an unfairly harsh light? His legions of fans would undoubtedly answer in the affirmative. They revere him for his work ethic, his values, his leadership qualities and, not insignificantly, his faith.

However – and this is a big however – there’s a glaring disconnect between many fans’ assessment of Tebow’s status as a wholesome winner and the way many NFL players process his presence. To some, the notion that Tebow somehow pushes harder or taps into a higher power than they do is insulting. The NFL is full of maniacally driven grinders who’ve overcome incredible odds to reach the pinnacle of their profession, and many of them are clean-living and well-mannered, too.

While few NFL players seem to have a problem with Tebow on a personal level, I know plenty who are put off by the mythology and the holier-than-thou fan base that lionizes his every accomplishment and perceives negative depictions of his ability through a persecution-complex-tinted prism.

BlogHawgs Stat Geek’s Weekly Razorbacks Newsletter

Posted by Adam Butler on October 31, 2011

ATTENTION RAZORBACK FANS! GET OFF THE LEDGE!!

With all the hand wringing and teeth gnashing Razorback fans are doing over two straight SEC road wins (albeit in ulcer-forming fashion against inferior opponents), I feel the need to put the individual records aside for a week and try to help fans get some perspective to what we are watching.

Now, I will give you that I would like us to end the trend of spotting the opponents a double-digit lead, but considering the moaning going on in Razorback Nation, you would think the Hogs are staring down the barrel of a 2-6 conference record. I am here to tell you to cheer up and enjoy the ride.

Arkansas is 7-1, ranked 7th in the BCS, and facing 3 straight home conference games in which it will be the favorite.

Take heed to what Coach Bob Petrino is achieving in the Ozarks:

If the Hogs finish 3-2 or better (including bowl), they will have achieved 20 wins in a two-year span. Their record would range between 22-4 to 20-6. That would mark only the 4th time in school history the Razorbacks have reached those marks.

1.      ’64-65: 21-1

2.      ’77-78: 20-3

3.      ’88-89: 20-4

Eh, “So what?” you say. Well, when we add in the ranked opponents these teams faced during those seasons, it tells a more complete story.

1.      ’64-65: 5 (3 ranked regular season opponents, 2 ranked bowl opponents)

2.      ’77-78: 7 (5 regular season, 2 bowls)

3.      ’88-89: 5 (3 regular season, 2 bowls)

4.      ’10-11: 12 (10 regular season, 2 bowls)

With 13 games a season now, you may still say, “So what?”. But, looking at winning percentages we see that with a 4-1 finish, this team would finish with the 9th highest 2-year winning % and the highest since the’88-89 season, when the program was still a member of the SWC, a league that no one would confuse with the beast of a conference that is today’s SEC.

So, let’s all get geared up for only the 2nd matchup of top 10 teams in Fayetteville since 1979 (the other being September 25, 2010). It should be a lot of fun.

Arkansas at Vanderbilt – BlogHawgs Prediction

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 28, 2011

GAME SKETCH

  • Line: Arkansas (-10) at Vanderbilt
  • Kickoff: 11:21am CDT (Televised regionally on SEC Network with Dave Neal providing PBP, Andre Wear with color analysis, and Cara Capuano on the sideline)
  • Weather:  Sunshine, Kickoff Temperature of 54 degrees with readings near 60 degrees in the 4th Quarter
  • Streaks: Arkansas has won three in a row entering this game and two straight against the Commodores

Trap Game Alert!  Two seasons ago, that was the catch phrase du jour around college football.  While it’s not on the tips of every talkers’ tongues, trap games do still exist.  The Hogs hit the road for the second consecutive week before they head back to Fayetteville for a Homecoming date with #12 South Carolina next weekend.  Vandy is…Vandy.  At least, there is a big concern that players believe that.

See, Vandy is no longer Vandy.  While they are not an SEC power – yet – the Commodores have a very solid football team that would easily qualify for a bowl game in any other conference in the country.  They know how to play defense at Vanderbilt, and the offense is finally showing signs of life.  First year head coach James Franklin, the former offensive coordinator at Maryland, has the Dores believing.  Quite simply this has all the markings of a very, very dangerous game for Arkansas.

Why Arkansas should win:  While Vandy may be improving quickly and significantly, the Hogs are still a far superior team on paper.  A quick scan of Vanderbilt’s schedule shows that they have yet to beat a quality opponent and have struggled to score against two upper-tier SEC defenses (South Carolina & Alabama).  While Arkansas’s defense may not be as good as those two, the Hogs are good enough to clamp down on the Dores and make them earn every yard.

While the concern does exist, we find it hard to believe that Bobby Petrino will allow his team to start sluggishly like they did last week.  The Hogs are very good, but they are not good enough to simply flip the switch when they want to win.  Not every week anyway.  A big hole seems like a big unlikelihood this week.

The biggest reason for optimism, though, is this:  Dennis Johnson.  The diminutive Texarkana native has emerged as a solid source of rushing yardage for the Hogs.  Ronnie Wingo, Jr. simply could not seize the moment, and Broderick Green is nowhere near ready to be a 25-carry back.  With DJ stepping up to fill the void, Wingo and Green can serve useful roles as backups.  If that position can generate 150+ yards on the ground, the Hogs should be able to slice and dice defenses for the rest of the year.

Given Bobby Petrino’s and Garrick McGee’s abilities to put together a comprehensive game plan each week, I expect to see Tyler Wilson hand the ball off quite a bit early before attacking the middle of the field with Jarius Wright and Joe Adams.  While most fans want to see an offensive explosion right out of the chute, a more practical approach calls for an inverted Petrino/McGee game plan – run the ball early and often before picking apart the secondary once they march for run support.

On the defensive side of the ball, Arkansas is healthier than they have been since the start of fall camp with the exception of Tank Wright.  While he is healing, it looks like Tank will sit this game out before returning for the Gamecocks.  Trey Flowers has stepped up in his absence, and Chris Smith still provides some ability to rush the passer.  With Jake Bequette anchoring the other side of the line, the Hogs look to be in good shape (finally) at defensive end.  Alonzo Highsmith and James Franklin continue to play all over the field, and Tramain Thomas may have finally put it together.  The emergence of Tevin Mitchel gives Willy Robinson the ability to sit the curiously ineffective Darius Winston.  While not airtight, the defense is getting better and better.  Vandy will try to play fast and use misdirection and short passes, which means the Hogs need to play with discipline on the edges.  This group of starters gives us more confidence than we have had in a while that they can do that.

Why Vanderbilt should win:  The Commodores believe they can win, and several intangibles point their way.  Most notably for Vandy, they get a home game coming off an out-of-conference romp over Army last weekend where they piled up 530 yards of total offense.  Jordan Rogers, little brother to reigning Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rogers, doesn’t scare you much on first glance, but the Vanderbilt quarterback in a dual threat.  If Arkansas hopes to beat Vanderbilt they will have to stop the run out of the quarterback position and make Rogers – in only his second career start – read the Hogs defense.  Vanderbilt has churned out 544 yards on the ground in their past two contests, the win over Army and a 33-28 loss to Georgia.  The problem for Arkansas is that rush defense remains a problem.  The Razorbacks rank 82nd nationally in total rushing yards allowed (1,283) and 87th in rushing yards per game (183.3/game).  Vanderbilt should be able to run the ball, which means they should be able to control the clock and limit the chances for Tyler Wilson and the Quad Squad.

Defensively, the Commodores play as well as anyone in the country – especially in the secondary.  Vandy is ranked 20th against the pass in total yardage (1,339 yards) and 26th in the country in yards per game (191.3/game).  As you have undoubtedly seen this week, Vanderbilt also leads the nation with 15 interceptions this year.  If the Vanderbilt defense is able to stifle the passing game of Arkansas, there is tremendous cause for concern.  While Dennis Johnson certainly looks ready to emerge as the Hogs go-to back, the inability to consistently pound the rock could create panic if the passing game is not clicking.

And the Winner Is…

We went back and forth on this one.  On the one hand, it’s tempting to say the Hogs will walk into Vanderbilt Stadium and mash the Commodores with overwhelming force.  The Hogs need a breakout game, are due for a breakout game, and Vanderbilt has enough holes that the Hogs could easily exploit if everything clicks.

On the other hand, though, teams that start slowly develop tendencies that are very difficult to overcome.  There is no technical flaw that needs to be corrected here.  It’s a mindset.  It’s about lining up and executing immediately, tackling the ball carrier with force as soon as the ball is kicked, and putting a hat-on-a-hat and running the football aggressively.  Arkansas has failed to do those things in the first quarter of their past four football games.  Why should we believe they will immediately become a First Quarter Force – in a road game no less?

In the end, though, Arkansas is the better football team.  We expect to see a better performance from beginning to end, but we have no expectations of a perfect game.  Look for the running game to continue to improve and more targets to Jarius Wright and Greg Childs.  Joe Adams will be used as a decoy more this week than ever, creating more one-on-one opportunities for Wright, Childs, and Cobi Hamilton.  Ultimately, the Hogs will wear down Vandy and cover the 10-point spread midway through the 3rd quarter before letting off the gas and pounding DJ, Wingo, and Green in the final period.  Arkansas 38, Vanderbilt 20

Free Money – Week 9

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 28, 2011

Time to Rebound

Well, we went back to normal in every way possible.  I went back to writing the Free Money column last week, but we both took losses.  This feels very 2001 right now.  That year Adam and I – again, assuming gambling was legal – could not lose for weeks on end before getting our clocks cleaned in early November.  I think it’s fair to say that all people that have a high level of risk aversion really need to think long and hard before taking our advice.

This is not uncommon, of course.  Like most football teams, Vegas needs a few weeks to get to their A-Game.  They have indeed found a good groove, and the lines for both college and NFL games have really tightened recently.  As we have said more than once, if this were easy Vegas wouldn’t look as nice as it does.

It doesn’t look like there are too many value plays on the board.  Both Adam and I have decided not to max out our straight up plays and neither of us has played the parlay.  Adam went ahead with the teaser bet this week.  I’m taking a break, though, after two consecutive teaser losses.

Once again, here is a quick recap of the rules:

  • Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
  • One option teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
  • Minimum of $50 wager
  • Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but can buy back into the game if they go bust

  • Tennessee (+3.5) v. South Carolina, $55 to win $50
  • Texans (-9.5) v. Jaguars, $110 to win $100
  • Broncos (+3) v. Lions, $55 to win $50
  • 49ers (-9) v. Browns, $55 to win $50
  • Chiefs (+3.5) v. Chargers, $77 to win $70

  • Total Wagers:  $407
  • Max Win: $370

Adam ($845)

  • Kentucky (+10) v. Mississippi St., $55 to win $50
  • Arkansas (-10) at Vanderbilt, $55 to win $50
  • Clemson (-3.5) at Georgia Tech, $55 to win $50

“Tebowing” Craze Sweeps the Nation.

Tyler Wilson Named College Football “Hunk of the Week”

Posted by Adam Butler on October 27, 2011

by Grantland.com’s John Brandon, who also had this to say about our great state, and our recent string of quarterbacks:

Arkansas Darlings,

Don’t think I’ve forgotten you. Your state has a complicated identity and your football team is complicated, top 10 in the nation but resigned to receiving the sixth- or seventh-most media attention in its own conference. And for you Natural Beauties, matters of the heart are complicated with all these quarterbacks from goddamn Texas — Ryan Mallett and Casey Dick and Clint Stoerner. With that pretty boy Matt Jones who thought he was better looking than you are, who thought you should buy him cocaine. Don’t even get you started on Mitch Mustain, who thought he was too good for his native haunts and decided to manifest a destiny of riding the pine in Los Angeles. You’ve noticed how many of my hunks come from the SEC,2 and you’ve been wondering if you would be ignored once again. Well, I wrote the book on your state, and I’m back with 250 words of tall, dark, tantalizing Tyler. He picks out those receivers and cocks that arm and it’s as simple as pass-and-catch, and now’s the time to make your pass, darlings, and catch this rugged triggerman in that sweet Arkansas simple life you’ve been dreaming of all season: a cabin in the Ozarks, a log in the fire, a pan full of biscuits, the Razorbacks on the radio, and a bed full of Tyler. Pig Sooie!

Best Political Ad Ever

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 26, 2011

I have no idea what this guy’s politics are like (If he’s the SF mayor, though, I have a guess), but I’d vote for him based on this ad alone. I hope they condensed it into a 30-second ad that could actually run on TV. Surely they did.

If Brian Wilson is for you, I’m for you.

The Drama Builds

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 26, 2011

We’ll have to wait one more day to see if the St. Louis Cardinals can force a Game 7 or if the Texas Rangers can win their first World Series title in franchise history.  Mother Nature has other plans tonight.  Major League Baseball officially postponed Game 6 of the 2011 World Series this afternoon, citing forecasts that called for significant rain throughout the evening in St. Louis.

I think this makes a lot of sense.  The game is too important to marred by delays and poor playing conditions.  One need only look to the ALCS where Detroit ace Justin Verlander had both of his starts interrupted by rain – starts in which he was unable to return after the delay.  Verlander also saw a similar fate in the ALDS against New York.  Hmm…has anyone checked to see if Verlander is in the St. Louis area?  Perhaps he’s just bad luck.

The forecast looks much better for Thursday night, if a bit cold.  But that’s October baseball, and temperatures in the low 40s and upper 30s will have a far smaller impact than lots of rain and a wet field.

The highly anticipated “Year of the Quarterback” highlights Arkansas tonight. The behind-the-scenes program focuses on quarterback preparation for some of the nation’s top gunslingers, and Tyler Wilson made their list. Tonight’s program follows Wilson and his fellow QBs as they meet with coaches and fans, and get ready for the home game against Auburn, which the Hogs won 38-14 just three weeks ago.

Here are a few promotional clips to whet your appetite. The program airs tonight on ESPN at 6:00pm CDT.

Free Money, Week 8 Results

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 26, 2011

We'll get it back...eventually.

I guess this is karma.  After subjecting Adam to bad juju for back-to-back weeks, I finally saw “The Streak” broken.  Unfortunately for AB, the black cloud extended to his side of the ledger sheet, too, making this the third red-ink week in a row for him.  We’ve got to turn this ship around quickly!

Seven consecutive winners provided some padding for me, but I ultimately dropped $93 this week thanks to a miserable Sunday and misfires on the parlay and teaser bets.  A surprisingly strong Saturday (3-0 on straight plays) had me thinking of a big payoff.  Losses by Tampa (+1), Detroit (-3.5), and Oakland (-3.5) and a ridiculous push by Cleveland (-3) quickly ended any thoughts of another profitable week for me.  For the weekend I finished with a terrifically mediocre record of 4-5-1.  That puts my season W-L-P mark at 39-24-3 and total cash on hand of $1,782.

Adam split the day on Saturday with his straight-up plays, but the teaser bit him in the behind thanks to a second half collapse by Auburn.  He continued to spit in the wind on Sunday, again winning 2 and losing 2 to end the weekend.  AB finished the week at 4-5-0 and is playing .500 ball after 8 weeks with a 34-34-3 season record and $845 in the bank.

It’s time to focus and get some money back this weekend.

Game Five Photo Journal

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 26, 2011

The World Series trip was everything I hoped it would be – other than the loss of course.  While I’m not a “real” Cardinals fan, I was yelling and cheering for ‘em all night long.  Thankfully the Rangers fans nearby were good natured and, even more thankfully, non-violent.  I count myself damn lucky to have been given the chance to go, and I tried to soak up every second of the experience.  Soaked up a few Budweisers, too, in an attempt to really be authentic in my Cardinals fandom for the night.

As most of you know, I’m a baseball fan more than anything else.  It’s the greatest game in the world.  I love history and tradition, and baseball is full of both.  (That also explains my affinity for college sports, too.)  Monday night’s game in Arlington actually had a feeling of both baseball and college football.  The atmosphere was electric, and the crowd was extremely loud.  They had just north of 50,000 folks in The Ballpark, and it was every bit as loud as I’ve heard Reynolds Razorback Stadium with 72,000+ screaming Hogs fans.

I’ll throw on my new Cardinals hat and settle in front of the TV tonight and cheer on Jaime Garcia.  As an adopted Cardinals fan and as a fan of baseball generally, I really hope the Cards chalk up a big win tonight.  We’ve not had a World Series Game 7 since 2001.  We’re long overdue for one of the greatest events in all of sports.

Go Cards!

BlogHawgs Heisman 5+1–10/25/11

Posted by Adam Butler on October 25, 2011

Special to BlogHawgs by Kris Boyd

It was tough leaving the fake Honey Badger, Russell Wilson, off the +1.–probably not as tough, however, as it was for Wisconsin fans to see their National Title hopes fall from their fingertips.

Big time players step up in big time games.  Wilson, unfortunately, was not big time.  Speaking of not big time, this would have been a great time for the real Honey Badger to step into the +1 had he not (ALLEGEDLY) been smoking poke salad.

Want a great dark horse candidate?  How about Texas Tech’s Seth Doege?  Seth has put great numbers, led an undermanned TTU team to a 5-2 record and still has to play Okie State, Texas, Mizzou and Baylor (current nationally respected teams who don’t play a lick of defense).

Lastly, to address some e-mails I have received about the +1.: The +1 is not a prediction of how the media will vote.  Anybody can predict that the voters will hand over the trophy to Eric Crouch, Troy Smith or Tim Tebow.  The +1 is all about who actually deserves to win the Heisman Trophy.

1.  Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama: Richardson is second in the nation in rushing yards and in rushing touchdowns.  His numbers would be better if Alabama was not so great.  He’s averaged 19 total touches a game over his last three.

2.  Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford:  Luck suffered from a similar situation as Richardson on Saturday.  Stanford routed a bad Washington team as Andrew attempted just 21 passes for fewer than 170 yards.  I hate to harp on numbers so much, but do we (as college football fans) really want a Heisman Trophy winner with 2,500 yards and 27 touchdowns?  Does it matter?

3.  Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State:  Weeden led his team to a win in what many considered to be a trap game for the Pokes.  Weeden has thrown for over 2,400 yards and 19 touchdowns.  He has a high (72%) completion rate for the season and while he has thrown 7 interceptions, only 1 of those has come in the last four games.

4.  Landry Jones, QB, OU: We’re not going to penalize Jones too much for OU’s loss to huge underdog Texas Tech.  He did throw for over 400 yards and 5 touchdowns.  The Bedlam game looms as the deciding factor between the two windy state gunslingers.

5.  Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State:  80% on completions?  Check.  300 yards?  Check.  3 touchdowns?  Check.  A win?  Check.  It was, however, Air Force.  *sigh*

+1.  Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson:  Cue up DJ Khaled.  Boyd led the Tigers to yet another win and exploded for almost 400 yards total offense and 6 touchdowns.  For the year, that is 2,400 yards passing, 24 passing touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 200 yards rushing and 4 rushing touchdowns.

Stat-A-Tat-Tat: Revisiting Razorback Milestones

Posted by Adam Butler on October 25, 2011

Last week during our mid-season Razorback record book update, we put the spot light primarily on the senior WR crew.

This week, let’s look at the defensive side of the ball where, there is another trio of four-year starting seniors that are climbing up some career statistical lists.

First, linebacker Jerry Franklin has never been the prototypical linebacker, and at times it hasn’t been pretty watching him develop, but on the whole he has been a solid force in the center of the defense from the start of the Bobby Petrino era.

Franklin is currently 8th all-time in tackles at Arkansas with 339. He is on pace to finish his career 2nd on the UA list–roughly 20 tackles behind Tony Bua.

Franklin would have to average about 12 tackles per game in his final 6 to pass Bua. He is also on pace to move into the UA top 10 in career tackles for loss.

Rank Player Tkl Diff.
1. Tony Bua 408 69
2. Ken Hamlin 381 42
3. Sam Olajubutu 372 33
4. Caleb Miller 368 29
5. Cliff Powell 367 28
6. Ronnie Caveness 357 18
7. Rickey Williams 343 4
8. Jerry Franklin 339

Next, despite missing 3+ games this year, Arkansas defensive end Jake Bequette is climbing the career sacks standings. He is currently 8th all time, with a chance to finish in the top 5.

Rank Player Sacks Diff.
1. Wayne Martin 25.5 10.0
2. Henry Ford 25.0 9.5
3. Steven Conley 21.0 5.5
4. Marcus Adair 19.0 3.5
5. Scott Long 18.0 2.5
6. Jamaal Anderson 17.5 2.0
7. Ray Lee Johnson 16.0 0.5
8. Jake Bequette 15.5

The last line of defense is the secondary, where we find Arkansas safety Tramain Thomas putting his mark on the UA record books. Despite being benched as a wake-up call earlier this season, Thomas is currently tied for 7th all time in interceptions at the UA, with a fighting chance of tying one of the greatest names in the annals of Razorback defense, Steve Atwater

Rank Player Int Diff.
1. Steve Atwater 14 4
2. Gary Adams 13 3
t3. Orlando Watters 12 2

6. Anthoney Cooney 11 1
t7. Tramain Thomas 10
t7. Charles Washington 10
t7. George Walker 10
t7. Jim Rinehart 10

Finally, despite a quiet game from UA wide receiver Jarius Wright in Oxford, he is still on pace to pass Anthony Lucas for career yards, while fellow UA wideout Joe Adams (with JWright closely on his heels) is now on pace to pass Anthony Eubanks for most catches.

We will continue to track the Hogs’ progress as the 2011 season is officially (and depressingly) more than halfway completed.

World Series – Game 5

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 24, 2011

It’s about time to start a new Bucket List for ol’ BK.  In the past 3 weeks I’ve been able to scratch off two significant items.  First, I was invited to participate in a series of meetings at the White House.  For someone like me that does what I do for a living, it’s hard to overstate how cool an experience that was.  It was right up near the top of the Bucket List, and definitely #1 of all professional items.

These are our seats for Game 5.

Tonight I get to scratch off another one, also one that has been high on the list for as long as I can remember.  I’ll be in the stadium for Game 5 of the World Series tonight.  I’m beyond pumped, if a bit embarrassed that I get to go to this game while my partners – 2 true blue Cardinals fans – do not.  Fate works like that occasionally.  I will carry their enthusiasm with me into the game, though.  It should be an unforgettable experience.

I will do my best to live-Tweet from the game.  Follow us @Blog_Hawgs for World Series updates tonight and all sorts of other stuff in the future.  Help BlogHawgs Nation grow!

Off to Dallas…

Select 17 – Week 9

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 24, 2011

By Saturday night, everyone nationwide had totally forgotten about the Hogs squeaker win at Mississippi.  At the end of the day (It’s nice to use that phrase in a literal sense), two Top 5 teams fell and the BCS shakeup was in full effect.  While the Hogs didn’t do themselves any favors by winning ugly, it was much better than a loss and they retained Top 10 status heading into Vanderbilt this Saturday.  Arkansas is the #10 team in the BCS rankings (full rankings here) while LSU and Alabama hold down the top two spots.  By the way — Have you heard that they play each other in two weeks?

As for the BlogHawgs Select 17, we saw some big changes, too.  Unbeaten Houston enters the rankings this week.  The Cougars are a team to watch, largely because they have an outside chance at crashing the BCS party for power conferences.  If two non-AQ schools both play their way into the BCS, that means teams like Arkansas could be out of the big money games.  Lots of football between now and then, but it’s worth watching.

To the rankings…

NWC Report for 10/21/11

Posted by Jeff on October 21, 2011

The Bentonville School Board voted Monday night to ask for a millage increase to add a third building (a ninth grade center) to its high school.  The move would allow growth to over 5000 students on one campus.  A group of parents have begun a campaign against the move.

The buzz surrounding the opening of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art continues.  More than 10,000 tickets have been reserved between the opening date and the end of the year.

A new, local organization called Feed Fayetteville hosted a panel discussion Wednesday night about local hunger issues.

As previously reported here, UofA AD, Jeff Long unveiled the Master Plan for building and improvements.  The Fayetteville Flyer assembled a great summation of the planned work.

Fayetteville is expanding one of its trails and it will cause a traffic snarl for a little while.

The Springdale Fire Chief has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation of allegations.

I know Adam is job hunting.  You might call Yosha, AB.  He may need more male escorts on campus.

What?!  Another small business opened on Dickson Street where this NO PARKING?!?!  Adam, you can pick up some supplies for your job with Yosha here.

Have a great weekend!

Free Money – Week 8

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 20, 2011

Back to normal. This feels right. I think it will be a good weekend at the wagering window.

After two weeks of dysfunction thanks to travel on my part, I am back to writing the Free Money column. As Adam alluded to two weeks ago, you don’t want to disrupt anything during a streak. We did that, and karma punched back with a vengeance. Unfortunately for Adam, karma took out her frustration on him and not me. I say this is the week he gets it back.

Several good plays on the board this week, both on Saturday and Sunday. I’ve got three straight plays on Saturday and five on Sunday. I’m adding a parlay to this week (that’s how good I feel) and my teaser. Adam is splitting it down the middle with four on each day. Proving that he’s got more brains than me, AB is skipping the parlay but playing the teaser.

Once again, here is a quick recap of the rules:

  • Maximum of 8 single plays during the week
  • One option teaser and one optional parlay also allowed
  • Minimum of $50 wager
  • Both started the season with a $1,000 bankroll but can buy back into the game if they go bust
