Game Day Diary

Posted by Brett Kincaid on September 4, 2010

Raising My Daughter Right

The college football season kicked off Thursday, of course, but the real feast begins today at 11:00am CDT.  BlogHawgs will be offsite today, watching the season begin from a secure, undisclosed location.  We’ll be keeping you up-to-date (as much as possible anyway) through our Game Day Diary.  I like think of this more as an homage to Bill Simmons than us straight ripping it off.  We’re not as funny anyway.

Let’s see how we go here, at least from the Kincaid household.

6:33am — Wake up to take care of The Baby while The Wife sleeps in.  (This is key, gentlemen.)

7:11am — Get The Baby changed into her Razorback gear.  It’s never too early to start the indoctrination.

7:18am — Start laundry (Another good tip, guys)

7:45am — Feed The Daughter

8:11am — Read the newspaper.  Magnolia 35, Crossett 0

9:02am — Change a diaper (extremely gross)

9:11am — Put dirty dishes in the dishwasher

9:31am — Wake up The Wife

9:43am — Squeeze in a solid 15 minutes of family time…because I’m THAT good of a dad/father.

10:01am — Shower, shave

10:15am — Throw on brand new Hogs polo shirt

10:31am — Exit the house en route to Undisclosed Location

10:58am — Arrive at Undisclosed Location

11:06am — Undisclosed Location compromised by crack Little Rock reporter

11:07am — First beer arrives

11:21am — Begin to openly mock Urban Meyer, the Florida Gators, and the “third best quarterback in the SEC” John Brantley.

11:38am — Pledge to buy Miami (OH) gear if they beat Florida, who they lead after the 1st Quarter.

11:44am — The Redhawks pull off a remarkable fake punt despite the tight end being held like a hostage in North Korea.  Florida looks awful.

12:29pm — Florida starting to show a little better, up 21-6 on Miami (OH) at halftime.  Morning games showing themselves to be about as exciting as predicted.  On to beer number three…

1:36pm — These games are beginning to put me to sleep.  ULL should consider giving up its football program.

1:59pm — Urban Meyer is a bad person. I legitimately believe his irregularly beating heart is black and cold.

2:15pm — A bad day watching football is still better than just about any other day.  This morning’s games really test that theory.  Let’s hope the afternoon slate picks up a little.

2:49pm — Well…. Rice?

3:01pm — It’s 3:01pm, and Alabama is still overrated.

3:22pm — Michigan looking pretty good.  Kirk Herbstreit basically said UConn would come into Ann Arbor and run the ball down the Wolverine’s throat.  Not so fast, my friend…

3:29pm — Pretty good pillow fight breaking out in South Bend

3:55pm — It’s 3:55pm, and Alabama is still overrated.

4:11pm — Texas starting to play a little better, but that defensive line has got to improve.

4:19pm — For reasons unknown, I’ve been watching Colorado/Colorado St. this afternoon.  CU defense looks great.

4:44pm — Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

5:01pm — About to leave Undisclosed Location for Butler Estates.  Mississippi doing its best to look awful in the second half against Jacksonville St.  Does throwing down field violate the terms of Masoli’s probation?

5:33pm — Signing off … Go Hogs!
