Marvin Austin Suspended for Saturday

Posted by Brett Kincaid on September 1, 2010

In a move that could hardly be described as a surprise, North Carolina All-American defense end Marvin Austin will not play against LSU this weekend.  Austin has been the center of an NCAA investigation regarding player-agent contact this summer.  According to a release from the school, Austin’s suspension is NOT related to the investigation.

His sin?  Why, he was violating team rules, of course.  My hunch is that “team rule” is the one about not partying with agents, putting your team’s season in jeopardy.  But I’m a cynic.

There is little question that Les Miles has a deal with the devil.

Notes from College Football

Posted by Brett Kincaid on September 1, 2010

Happy New College Football Year's Eve!

The BlogHawgs are grinding away today, trying to get our actual work done before checking out for a long weekend of football.  Apologies for the lack of posting today… We’ll pick it back up tomorrow.

To satisfy your cravings in advance of tomorrow night’s kickoff, here are a few good stories from around the college football world today.

My man Pat Forde is back with his weekly feature, The Forde Yard Dash.  This is a must-read every week for college football fans.

Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com details his list of Week 1 teams & coaches with a lot to gain … and a lot to lose this weekend.

College Football News has started their weekly “Fearless Predictions” columns, a regular staple of the college football diet.  In this one they breakdown Monday night’s “Game of the Year” between Boise and Va Tech.  Not good news for us Bronco Believers

Arkansas to the Cotton Bowl has been a popular bowl projection here in the pres-season. CBSSports.com likes the Hogs to Dallas with Bama and Ohio St. in the BCS Championship Game.

The Big Ten has its own version of “The Decision” tonight on ESPN.  The counting-challenged league will announce the two divisions they will assign the 12 teams for next football season.  Prepare for gnashing of teeth when Ohio St. and Michigan are assigned to different divisions.

Enjoy…  We’re about 27 hours from kickoff to the 2010 season, folks!

here is the link. DP is having him on to talk about Jeremiah Masoli being denied eligibility by the NCAA. It should be high comedy.
