It’s finally here. It’s Game Week. And that means it’s time for the BlogHawgs.com Select 17 poll.
As you may or may not remember, we decided last season to introduce another poll into the college football landscape. When you think on it, really there is nothing the sport needs more than a bunch of a-holes screaming about why their perspectives are better than anyone else’s. So we decided to fill that void.
This year’s voters include 6 holdovers and 2 new guys. All are college football crackheads, and everyone takes their ballot seriously. With a football season as wide open as this one, I think we’ll have some serious swings week-to-week over these first two months.

First, I am pleasantly amazed that Ohio State is #1. Usually polls like this in SEC states forget that the earth doesn’t revolve around their football stadium.
Second, despite what Brett says, Boise is not even Top 5. His logic is flawed but I’ll take that to his post.
Finally, watch out for Iowa. Barring a nonsensical loss like last year v. Northwestern, (It’ll be Iowa State) I feel good about Iowa this year. Those of you who place an occasional wager, Iowa is a good bet this year depending on spreads of course. Also, to make some extra cash, always take the under until Vegas starts to believe in Iowa’s D. While in Iowa with my convalescing Dad I read SI’s Big Ten preview mag. They put 9 Iowans on their pre-season First Team All Big Ten Defense. They had zero on first team offense. Get the picture? Even Stanzi didn’t make it.

I’m loving me some Hawkeyes in the poll. I’ve got BAMA 1. Somebody will have to beat them for them not to be #1. Hopefully that will be Arkansas.

I do like Texas A&M. Their schedule is great, lots of talent coming back, and difference makers on both sides. With the Big XII being down, I’m very bullish on the Ags.
