BREAKING NEWS: GATOR HAT GATE 2010 TAKES A COLD-BLOODED TURN

Gork didn't wear this to the UA Press Conference Saturday, but maybe should should have gotten her money's worth.
The good folks at Arkansassports360.com are reporting that Hog Sports Radio employee Renee Gork has been fired.
They do a better job than I will of re-”cap”ping the situation, but for those who missed it, Gork, a Florida grad, made the really dumb decision to wear a Gators cap to a UA press conference this weekend and ask the Head Hog, Bobby Petrino, a question. Petrino answered, but wasn’t happy, and let her know it.
Hog fans everywhere didn’t appreciate it, or other public comments she allegedly made about her job covering the Hogs (as opposed to the Gators), either. After several complaints, Capshaw was fired.
I personally don’t think the hat thing is a big deal but I am sure her employers didn’t like all the attention, or even the implication that she might be a Florida wonk that would prefer wonking for Florida.
It was a dumb mistake–particularly when you add in the fact that she is a Gator alum, and the Hogs lost were jobbed in Gainesville last year.

The story in the link said that Petrino “reprimanded her.” That seemed more like a friendly quip than a reprimand. A reprimand is when you blow up and scream “I”m a man; I’m 40!”
Now can we fire Bo Mattingly? We’ll just raid his house and find contraband Gator gear.

yes, I thought that was odd wording, too.
Usually, a reprimand comes from a boss or some type of official or superior.
Then again, BP seems like he might have a way of reprimanding all kinds of people. “I SAID GO EASY ON THE STARCH ON THE COLLAR!” *Icy Stare*

Yup. That was me.
I found it ironic that my whole point was that as long as the facts (and doing your homework)are unimportant to the national media (with the exception of Dan Patrick), we will always be considered hicks, and Bo agreed, but yet he did a whole show on Hat Gate and obviously didn’t do 5 minutes of show prop on it.
But, he did say it was a great call and he apparently hung up on the Jack Legged blogger they had on later who ripped Petrino. So, I will go easy on the Short One today.

As an admitted Gator partisan, I’d love to take the reporter’s side. That said I’m also a lawyer and in “right-to-work” jurisdictions you can be fired for anything other than your religion or race more or less. So wearing a Florida hat to a Hawg presser is iodiotic by any measure and the firing, though petty, was probably deserved. I highly doubt that Urb would look kindly at a ‘Bama hat from the local press here in Gville.
Also, what the crap is up with Bo? He lets a moron get on his show and go on and on about how Stephen A. Smith *spit* took Arkansas to task over this. He said the national media thinks Arkansas is petty because of this incident? All Bo did was say “You’re probably right.” What the eff? The second biggest hack on the radio (behind Pat Bradley) is getting respect on Bo’s show? geffind

Even Patrick, who is gaining on Chris Low for my biggest man crush, doesn’t like SAS, and they work for the same company.

did u catch that clay character at the end of bo’s show…a bonafide columnist from nashville that was just bashing BP calling him a dirtbag….agreed he i.e BP (not that BP or the other BP) and we will always get the lesser than benefit of the doubt from national media but that guy was a straight up dolt calling razorback fans hypocrits for calling the hogs when BP was introduced as our head coach…i guess Clay slept thru the whole lane kiffin debacle down the road from his paper. Ric Flair said it best…in order to be the man u got to beat the man. Until then we will always be viewed as the red headed stepchild of the SEC
