Seriously. What’s the deal with Snooki and Jersey Shore?
Posted by Jeff on July 28, 2010
I admit. I stopped watching MTV about 12 years ago. Maybe longer than that. And yes, I’m officially in my 40′s. I also admit that my entire understanding of Jersey Shore and specifically Snooki comes from Saturday Night Live.
So… can someone explain it to me? Even the governor of New Jersey could do without them.
What am I missing?

I could care less.
The last time I watched MTV they actually played music.

It’s comfort TV. People take comfort in knowing there are individuals out there who are more worthless than them.
And, they fight, and make out, a lot. And, people like to watch other people fight, and make out. Throw in the accents and the playing to long-standing stereotypes, and it’s TV gold.

I refuse to ever watch ANYTHING on MTV ever again, but people watch this for the same reason they watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette; the same reason people slow down to look at car wrecks.
The funny thing about reality shows is that none of it is reality.

Funny story… when the writer’s strike happened all of the “reality” shows went off the air like everything else. Coincidence? =D
