Scotty Thurman to Join UA Basketball Staff?

Posted by Adam Butler on June 25, 2010

that’s a distinct possibility per Dudley Dawson of  Hawgs Illustrated (on Bo Mattingly’s statewide radio program).

That would make me very happy. Scotty is my favorite basketball Hog of all time. And, he would bring some pride and swagger back–quickly.

If you watch this and don’t get excited, you really are dead inside.

Uncle Sam’s Army takes on Ghana tomorrow at 1:30p CDT in the knockout round.  It’s win or go home at this point.   There is no such thing as a tie in the knockout round.

NWC Report for 6/25/10

Posted by Jeff on June 25, 2010

The area’s best summer attraction, the Tontitown Grape Festival is going to be filmed this year for a show called Celebrating Festivals.

The Washington County jailer who posed nude for Playboy was suspended with pay pending a complete investigation.

A legend and his legendary guitar.

B.B. King is coming to the WAC.  Maybe not big news for you large market concert folks but I’m excited.  I last saw him in 1991 in Seville, Spain at the Guitar Legends concert series. He, Bo Diddley, & Robert Cray all jammed at the end.  Near the top for me, concert-wise.

Speaking of the WAC…The Walton Family Foundation is putting its foot down. If they are to be the lead contributor to a new venue for the Walton Arts Center then it has to be in Bentonville. Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan, however, is standing by the plan that the city is forming with the university.

A group called The American Family Association sent a letter to Mayor Jordan in Fayetteville denouncing the city’s support of an upcoming gay pride parade. The parade also made news for its 10 year old Grand Marshal. The boy, Will Phillips of West Fork made national headlines last year for refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance because he feels that not everyone in this country is treated equally.

Babes on Bikes.

Fayetteville will be kicking off a new motorcycle rally next week. Bikes Babes & Bling is designed to attract female cycle aficionados and it will do so with a red, white, & blue bang.

Have a great weekend, friends. Stay cool!
