Diamond Hogs Eliminated in the Greatest Super Regional

Posted by Adam Butler on June 14, 2010

that no one saw (both games were on ESPNU). The Hogs fell in 12 innings (again) last night, one night after being one-strike from winning the opener, only to lose the lead Saturday on a nubber just past UA Jordan Pratt and lose in 12 innings.

Late last night, Arkansas centerfielder Brett Eibner channeled his inner….Brett Eibner when, just as last season at Omaha when the Hogs were down to their last strike, he hit a hanging breaking ball to the moon to tie the game.  This time, though, Arkansas couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity in extra innings and its season ended.

UA skipper Dave Van Horn prides himself on not rebuilding but reloading and that will be put to the test next season as the Arkansas roster and recruiting class were gutted by last week’s MLB draft.

Here’s a BlogHawgs tip of the cap to a very talented ballclub that never gave up and gave us a lot of thrills along the way.

If You See Frank Broyles on the Street, Shake His Hand.

Sure, there are some things he handled very poorly (the Nolan Richardson fiasco) but he was a great coach and AD, and his foresight almost 20 years before what appears to be historic college football realignment kept Arkansas from landing in Conference USA.

Kansas, don’t fret the Missouri Valley Conference has great fruit cup.
