Is it Better to Have Loved ABC’s “Lost” Than Never to Have Loved “Lost” at All?

Posted by Adam Butler on April 27, 2010

BlogHawgs Movie and Cult TV Series Correspondent James Rudolpho “Jim” Gooch thinks so.

Special to Bloghawgs from James R. Gooch

I don’t know if anyone else on the board watches “Lost,” but you should.

However, I forewarn you that there is no such thing as a casual fan of “Lost.”  You will likely get hooked, find yourself contemplating its mysteries as you lay in your bed, jonesing like hell for Tuesday night to roll around.

Like the island, the show demands much of its viewers; you must watch carefully, for nothing is random.  Miss one episode and you risk losing it all.  And of course you have to start from the beginning, which is easy thanks to Netflix and OnDemand.

Rarely will you have as much fun with a television show.  It’s without a doubt one of the most entertaining television shows of all time.  I watch it religiously; I won’t make plans on Tuesday nights.  It literally causes fights between me and my girlfriend.

And if you are like me, then you probably have your own theories about the island and its origins, about Jacob and the Man in Black, and about how it’s all going to end in just four short weeks.  After months of scanning Lostpedia and other “Lost” websites full of cockeyed theories and predictions, I was very lucky to come across this gem.  I think many of the theories proposed in this piece are likely spot on.  Tell me if you agree.

UA Basketball: Welcome to the Delvon Johnson Era

Posted by Adam Butler on April 27, 2010

First, Arkansas recently struck out with Ricardo Ratliffe–JUCO ALL-American, all our eggs in one basket, power forward and friend of Razorback Marshawn Powell.

Now, after scrambling looking elsewhere for help, they’ve been spurned by another recruit…….for prep school.

Ratliffe cast his lot with Mizzou and coach Mike Anderson–he of the “near-Razorback dynasty in the 90s building” Andersons.

You may remember Anderson. He’s the proven head coach who has all but announced he would return to Arkansas, if offered (something coaches with jobs NEVER allow their confidants so so publicly and specifically). Alas, Jeff Long isn’t interested in the past–only the future. A future filled with Delvon Johnson.

No worries, though.

Delvon averaged 2.6 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game in just over 13 minutes per game for the Hogs last season. And, prior to that at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, he averaged 6.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots.

I can hardly wait for the Delvon Johnson era to begin.

Malcom X Assassin Freed on Parole

Posted by Adam Butler on April 27, 2010

after 45 years in the Pen. This decision certainly invites controversy.

Hagan declined to comment Tuesday afternoon.”I really haven’t had any time to gather my thoughts on anything,” he said.

The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, an organization founded by the civil rights leader’s late widow, hasn’t taken a position on Hagan’s parole, board chairman Zead Ramadan said.

“We just don’t think it’s ours to decide the fate of this man. We allowed the laws of this nation to develop that,” Ramadan said.

But another group, the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee, decried Hagan’s parole at a press conference earlier this month. The organization holds essay contests and other events in his memory.

Texas to the SEC?

Posted by Adam Butler on April 27, 2010

Mmmm Chaps!

It could happen, particularly if the Big X (errrrrr 11) expands and sets off a chain reaction. Bring back the hate!

3) The SEC can afford to add Texas A&M this time around. If conference are going to 16 teams, the SEC would be able to add four and keep the natural rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M, and restore old rivalries with Arkansas from the Southwest Conference.

Posted by Adam Butler on April 27, 2010

Cha-Ching.

I dig it. Oh, and UA 3B Zach Cox is projected as the #6 overall pick in the upcoming MLB draft.  That will make him a multi-millionaire.
