More Sarah

Posted by Brett Kincaid on November 17, 2009

As she continues to promote her new book, Sarah Palin has adopted a strategy of many authors:  book tour.  Just don’t expect her to be signing in the “liberal elite” bookstores or cities!  No, she is going to hard working areas of our country.

Funny thing, though, is that she’ll be signing books in Fayetteville.  Of course it’ll be at a Sam’s Club, but Fayetteville has plenty of those dastardly liberal elites.  Many of my friends live there.  I’d wager that this signing will be moved up the road a piece to Bentonville before it’s all said and done.

More Rocky Top Trouble

Posted by Brett Kincaid on November 17, 2009

When it rains it pours.  Hours before kickoff of the Vols/Tiger High game two weeks ago, redshirting freshman DB Nyshier Oliver was arrested for shoplifting at an area mall.  A Tennessee spokesperson said the matter was handled internally, and Oliver had been banned from team activities.

Lane Kiffin is going to need another great recruiting class if he hopes to field a team next season.  At this rate half his team is going to be suspended or dismissed.

BlogHawgs.com Select 17 Hoops Style–Week 1.

Posted by Adam Butler on November 17, 2009

The good folks in Kansas should get ready for a melee between members of the Jayhawks basketball and football teams, again, as the inaugural BlogHawgs.com Hoops Select 17 has the roundball beakers in the top spot.  Without a doubt, Bill Self’s squad is the team to beat.  Now, the real question is whether Xavier Henry’s name is pronounced Zavier, as one would expect, or X-avier, as I have ALREADY heard it pronounced 1,321 times on TV.  I need a ruling. I need no ruling on the Hog Call vs. Rock Chalk.  Hog Call wins in a walk.  Here’s the poll:

1. Kansas (5)     101

2. Mich St. (1)   93

3-t. Texas           83

3-t. Kentucky

5. UNC               81

6. Villanova    72

7. Duke             62

8. Purdue        61

9. West Va.     48

10. UCONN    47

11. Butler       45

12. Tenn.       39

13. Wash.      26

14. Cali           25

15. Mich        12

16. OH St.      10

17. Gtown     8

Others Receiveing votes: Siena (6), Minn (5), OU, (5) Dayton (2), Louisville (2), Clemson (1) & Miss. St. (1)

The Poor Sap

Posted by Brett Kincaid on November 17, 2009

I suppose if I were in his shoes, I’d opt to look at the glass as “half full”, too.  Notre Dame head football coach Charlie Weis says that he does not know if a decision has been made on his coaching future for 2010.  Meanwhile rumors are flying that overtures have been made to OU head coach Bob Stoops.

It’s obviously all rumor right now, but this really is a fun part of college football.  It’s never fun to see someone lose his job, but with the buyouts these clowns net I have no problem following it as a spectator sport.  If he were a machinist at Dassault-Falcon I’d definitely have more sympathy.

Did H1N1 make Newsweek’s List of the 10

Posted by Adam Butler on November 17, 2009

Most Overblown Fears of the Decade?  As a parent, I found #3 to be very interesting, particularly since most doctors won’t come out and say that (for liability reasons).

Why is everything “out of context” with Sarah Palin?

Posted by Brett Kincaid on November 17, 2009

The former Alaska governor says this week’s Newsweek cover picture has been taken out of context.  How is a picture out of context?

The choice of photo for the cover of this week’s Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this “news” magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant.

Sarah Palin Day

Posted by Brett Kincaid on November 17, 2009

In honor of the curvacious caribou killer’s book hitting stores today, Sarah gets plenty of BlogHawg attention today.  Leading off today is this little nugget about her grandbaby daddy.

“We don’t want to mess up the gig he’s got going, aspiring, aspiring porn, some of the things that he’s doing,” the former Alaska governor told Winfrey. “It’s kind of heartbreaking.”
