University of Arkansas Athletics will “Just Do It”

Posted by Adam Butler on November 10, 2009

Arkansas Nikeagain, soon (July 1, 2010).  The University of Arkansas has signed a 5-year, all-sports apparel contract with Nike that willbegin next summer.   The U of A, whose current apparel contract is with Adidas, had been a Nike school prior to the current deal.

I generally think Nike does a better job with apparel (and believe it or not it is a factor, albeit a small one in recruiting) but I do not look forward to the incessant whining it will bring from old-timers about changing of the traditional uniforms.

Arkansas Razorbacks Hoops Suspensions Announced

More Dreaded Suspensions for UA Hoops

and it isn’t pretty as Team Turmoil gets set to ride again on Thursday.

I just hope the Hogs end up with more wins than game suspensions.  I have my doubts at this point.  Right now, it’s at least Suspensions: 8 (and probably more like 15-16) to Wins: 0

Don't the Cops know "The Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing to*Mess* With"?

errrrrr some “associates” of the rap group, were arrested there Monday night.

Cops grew suspicious of their vehicle when officers opened the bus door and “could immediately smell the odour of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the bus…”

The police report adds, “The bus was filled with

smoke and the odour of marijuana….” and when cops climbed on board to search the vehicle, they spotted “marijuana blunts and residue… laying in plain sight”.

“Granny” Lou Holtz to Become Head Coach at

Posted by Adam Butler on November 10, 2009

LOU_HOLTZ_NOTRE_fed4Memphis St.?   Tiger High?  University of Memphis? I’ll believe it when I see it.  If he thought Fayetteville “wasn’t the end of the Earth but you could see it from there” then I would love to hear what he would have to say about his would-be program’s duds.

Even Renowned Crimson Tide wonk Paul Finebaum

Posted by Adam Butler on November 10, 2009

SEC refsays the SEC is losing credibility with repeated bad calls on the big stage.  I betcha the league launches a major PR campaign in the offseason–and hires its refs full-time so that they can train and evaluate them (and also so they can pay to get the best of the best).

Vance Trial Update–State Rests

Posted by Adam Butler on November 10, 2009

This just in to the BlogHawgs news room –The State has rested in the capital murder trial of Curtis Vance.  The Defense’s case will begin at 1 p.m. today. It will be interesting to see if they put on any witnesses at all during the “guilt” phase.  In the unlikely event that Vance, himself, takes the stand….talk about some high drama.  Pulaski County Chief Deputy Prosecutor John Johnson would have a field day.

Top Ten Tactical Blunders of the Decade

Posted by Adam Butler on November 10, 2009

bushas per Newsweek.  John Kerry allowing himself to be swift-boated should be Number 1.  You expect collosal errors from GWB, but Kerry’s failure to fight back cost him the presidency and gave us four more years of 43.

This would be a good SEC Football Poll.  Who would play George W. Bush?  Les Miles?  TheMississippi Coach?I have to think scheduling two Division II (I refuse to call it the other thing) opponents when you can only count one toward bowl eligibility would rank way up there.

"It's OK. We all make mistakes."

those defending the embattled SEC refs.

“I believe in my heart that those officials are trying, and if I felt differently, I’d say that,” Miles said. “I don’t believe that. I believe they are working hard to get it right, and that doesn’t change the score today or the position we’re in.”
