Some Arkansans are still trying to defeat the lottery.

When will they learn that almost 2/3 of the state’s voters last November voted for the lottery? I’ve always thought Rick Green was a pretty good, smart legislator. This one has me scratching my head, though. Perhaps he’s an economist, and I just don’t know it.
With the state facing $100 million in budget cuts because of a revenue downturn, some legislators are wondering whether the new state lottery could be making a bad situation worse.“My concerns right now are, how do the lottery sales affect the revenue for the state that we’re currently seeing a downturn in?” said state Rep. Rick Green, R-Van Buren.
