Remembering HawgBall VI: “40 Minutes of Hell” Hath No Fury

Posted by Adam Butler on October 20, 2009

Like a Women’s Basketball Franchise Scorned?  I have wanted to see Nolan back on the bench, but this is pushing it.  I do agree, though that relocation to Tulsa would be a sad, sad ocassion.

Arkansas Midseason Review

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 20, 2009

This from ESPN.com SEC blogger Chris Low.

The toughest part of what was a brutal schedule would appear to be behind Arkansas, which has managed to hang in there pretty well. The Hogs (3-3, 1-3) were a couple of missed field goals and a couple of brutal calls by officials away from knocking off No. 1 Florida last week in the Swamp. The game Arkansas would love to have back is that 52-41 loss to Georgia at home the third week of the season. But since that game, the Hogs’ defense has improved dramatically. They sacked Florida quarterback Tim Tebow six times last Saturday in their 23-20 loss to the Gators. Some injuries on offense have watered down their stable of playmakers, but they’re still third in the SEC in total offense and averaging 34.5 points per game.

SEC Links

Coaches and players say the focus this week is on Mississippi football, not their head coach or the Florida near-miss.

Bobby Petrino essentially says that he’s stuck with Alex Tejada and that Michael Smith is improving.

Notes from the weekly Mississippi coach’s press conference suggest they could be down 3 significant players this week.

Finebaum and his arrogance make me wish the Florida and Alabama team planes would pull a Marshall.

At least one Auburn writer is asking a question many people have wondered for a while.

Georgia’s Geno Atkins clearly wants more playing time.

Mississippi State is pulling out all the stops for their game against Florida this weekend.  Sorry Bulldogs…it won’t be enough, even if you out-play the Gators.

The LSU offense has followed the frustrating trend of checking with the sideline right when you think the ball is about to be snapped.

Offensive line problems continue to plague South Carolina this season.

Tennessee is back on the field, preparing for their annual rivalry game against Alabama.

The Kentucky win at Auburn could spark a nice run for Rich Brooks’ crew this year.

Three weeks into ticket sales and the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is officially out of debt.

Lots of “Washington speak” at the State Chamber of Commerce’s political forum yesterday.

Lottery Director Ernie Passilague gets it right:  “There’s no cure for stupid.”

The crazy folk from Kansas were in Little Rock and Magnolia (Magnolia?!?!) yesterday.

We played high school football against this guy.

The state is losing money…fast.

Another exercise in futility in Afghanistan.

What the hell is Biden thinking

More positive signs that the economy has at the very least settled

Nashville police released some details regarding the Steve McNair murder-suicide.  Pretty chilling stuff
