CollegeFootballNews.com Has Arkansas

ranked in its Top 20.  And, FWIW, CFN is not some crack pot blog owned by two dudes with other jobs and families and such.  It’s one of the best college football sites around……definitely Bookmark/Favorites worthy.  It’s nice for the Hogs to get some love right before heading down to face the QB who has never…oh, never mind.

Arkansas Shooting Guard Rotnei Clark Named

Posted by Adam Butler on October 12, 2009

the Country’s Top Shooter by FoxSports.com.  Jeff Goodman, that sites senior college basketball writer, thinks he could be a hit this season……..which begins THIS FRIDAY with the team’s first practice.  From Goodman’s column:

I remember the first time I saw Clarke, it was back prior to his junior season. Talented guard Willie Warren, now a sophomore at Oklahoma, told me that his summer team, Team Texas, had picked up the best shooter in the nation.

Then he pointed to Clarke.

I laughed.

Clarke didn’t look like the type of kid who’d scare opposing defenses with his ability to stretch a defense nearly to halfcourt. Sure, he had put up insane scoring numbers in a small town in Oklahoma, but he was a chubby little kid who hardly looked the part.

Then I saw him shoot the ball.

Arkansas Keeps Inching Up In

Posted by Adam Butler on October 12, 2009

the SEC Power Rankings by ESPN’s Chris Low.  Too bad CFBJ is next up for the Hogs.

7. Arkansas: The best news for the Hogs (3-2, 1-2) is that Willy Robinson’s defense came to life last Saturday in the 44-23 win over Auburn. It’s really the only thing that’s been holding this Arkansas team back from being one of the top five or six teams in this league. Quarterback Ryan Mallett looks like a million dollars throwing the football. Now, let’s see if the Hogs can keep up their defensive resurgence. Doing so at Florida won’t be easy.

Bought and Paid For

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 12, 2009

U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln reports more than $4.1 million total raised for her re-election campaign.  She raised more than $1.2 million this quarter alone.  Me thinks there might be a bit of lobbyist money reported.

Select Seventeen — Week 7

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 12, 2009

What a weekend of great football.  The Hogs showed they still have a shot at making some noise in the SEC West, Florida showed its defense may be the best in the land, and Mississippi showed that they have progressed about as well as we expected.  Things are tightening up in the Select 17 this week.  Florida and Bama are separated by 1 vote with Texas lurking.  We’ll see what the Horns are made of this week when they take on Oklahoma.  Arkansas, meanwhile, will take on its 3 consecutive undefeated team.

Rank Team Votes
1 Florida (4) 116
2 Alabama (3) 115
3 Texas 105
4 Virginia Tech 95
5 Boise St. 79
6 USC 76
7 Cincinnati 66
8 Miami 65
9 Ohio St. 61
10 Iowa 56
11 TCU 54
12 LSU 45
13 Oregon 38
14 Kansas 27

Gators Haunt South Carolina

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 12, 2009

The gators keep getting South Carolina folks, even on the golf course

The man, who is in his 70s, was retrieving his ball from a pond when the 10-foot alligator bit him at Ocean Creek Golf Course in Beaufort County. The gator pulled the golfer into the pond and ripped off his arm in the struggle. His golf partners were able to free him.

Razorback Joe Adams suffered a “mild stroke” last week.

He’s not exactly a dual-threat QB, but Ryan Mallett showed off his mobility against Auburn.

The Arkansas offense is back on track, determined not to be de-railed at Florida this week.

Antonio Coleman is quite frustrated by what’s happening on defense down at Auburn.

Urban Meyer sought advice from several sources before playing Tim Tebow on Saturday night.

Alabama looks almost unstoppable at the midway point of the regular season.

South Carolina looks at this week’s Bama game as a measuring stick to gauge their improvement.

Les Miles:  “We’ve got to play better.  It’s just that simple.”  Even John Madden is shaking his head…

We tried to warn you, Mississippi Fan.

Mark Richt now firmly on the hot seat, thanks in large part to Georgia Tech’s success.
