Mississippi 35, Vanderbilt 13

Georgia Tech Mississippi St. Georgia Tech -4.5 Georgia Tech Georgia Tech

Texas Governor Rick Perry … words fail me.

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 1, 2009

There is a special place in hell for guys like him.

An investigation into claims that faulty evidence led Texas to execute a man in 2004 was at a “crucial point” when the state’s governor replaced three of its members this week, one of the three said Thursday.

Is Jerrod Johnson really John Elway 2.0? We’ll find out in 3 days.

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 1, 2009

This SI writer (and former Aggie student) believes in the big Texan.  He sounds like a kind of guy most would like to have in the program.  I hope I don’t grow to hate him as much as Tim Tebow; please do not alert Thom Brenneman.

Growing up in the Houston suburb of — appropriately — Humble, Texas, he was considered a pro prospect in baseball and basketball. As a sophomore in high school, Johnson clocked 90-mph on the radar gun with his fastball. As a junior in high school, Johnson earned a basketball scholarship to A&M. Current Marquette coach Buzz Williams, a former assistant at A&M, said of Johnson shortly after his commitment in 2005, “he could start for us right now.”

“I talked to my dad the other night and he said it’s like trying to read a book with someone waving their hand in front of the book — trying to look at it, what’s going on, but you can’t really see it. You can’t really focus because there’s so much misdirection and so much shifting motion.” — Lane Kiffin

A.J. Green will actually have a challenge this week.

Mississippi linebacker D.T. Shackleford has made an impact as a freshman.

Weslye Saunders hopes to see the ball thrown his way more often.

LSU’s Russell Shepard should continue to see more snaps this week at Georgia.

Morning News

Posted by Brett Kincaid on October 1, 2009

ACORN Arkansas has layed off a few folks.  Not a lot of pimp business in Arkansas I suppose.

A bad day for Arkansas jobs.  Windstream also must let some employees go.

Rep. Beverly Pyle really wants to carry her sidearm in church.  Makes me wonder what kind of church she attends.

There was no lag in lottery sales on the second day of operation.

Mid-South Community College received a $2 million federal grant that should pave the way for biodiesel technology development.

Betsey Wright, the former top aide to Bill Clinton, pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of smuggling embargoed items into a state prison.

The U.S. and Iran held one-on-one talks today for the first time in more than 30 years.

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) is a dirtbag.  Not breaking news, I know, but still worth mentioning

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will have to wait like the rest of us to see what is in Sarah Palin’s memoir.

Mitt Romney used McCain’s name for a big fundraiser in Phoenix.  His name…not him; McCain was not at the fundraiser.
