Wal-Mart Gets a Bad Rap

Posted by Adam Butler on August 28, 2009

there are plenty of reasons to love it.  Don’t act like you haven’t been perilously close to being featured on that site….you remember the time you were sick and went to the 24-hour Wal-Mart at 2 a.m. in some comfy sleeping pants and a white undershirt to get some Cheetos and a bottle of Nyquil.  Admit it.  Oh wait, that was me. Nevermind.

Michael Vick made his debut last night.  Donovan McNabb appears to be tired of this experiment already.

Brandon Marshall makes T.O. look like Steve Largent when it comes to being a teammate.  What a complete waste of talent.

Evidently Billy Gillespie likes fruity drinks

Los Angeles took 2 of 3 from Colorado, extending their lead in the NL West.  Meanwhile San Francisco could not capitalize while losing at home to Arizona.

St. Louis finally loses a Carpenter start.

The U.S. Open starts next week.  Nadal and Federer are on opposite sides of the draw.

SEC Links

To no one’s surprise, Ryan Mallett has officially been named the starting QB for the Razorbacks.  It looks like Tyler Wilson has earned some playing time, too.

Terrell Williams will definitely not be redshirting with the scout team this fall. This kid is a player.

Arkansas media outlets are still suspect of the new SEC Media Policy.

Joe Adams is on “vacation” according to Coach Petrino.  He should be in uniform, though, when the Hogs take on Missouri State next weekend.

Among other things, Alabama is watching a flu bug that is spreading around the Tuscaloosa campus.

Auburn will be without its top returning wide receiver for the first four games this season.

Willie Martinez is under a microscope this season in Athens.

Eric Berry remains the only sure-thing in the Tennessee defensive backfield as game week approaches.

South Carolina has quietly been supplying the NFL with quality defensive backs.  They hope this year’s crop will join the rest someday.

You may see a lot of four receiver sets at Florida if anything happens to TE Aaron Hernandez.

Morning News

It’s not easy being Green.

Crazy Tom Coburn, the Oklahoma Senator, was in northwest Arkansas for some reason yesterday.

This guy held his daughter hostage with a knife because his father sold the man’s car.  Yep… You read that right.

I usually side with teachers in any dispute involving parents, but maybe in this case she should not have used an example of an “enraged…teacher” firing a gun at a student.

Some people really should just be removed from the gene pool.

I hope this guy finds a nice new boyfriend real soon.

This is one of the most bizarre yet amazing stories I have ever heard.

No chance she suffers any political fallout in her home district.
