Get your heads out of the gutter….I am not talking about some Michael Vick prison story. Dick’s Sporting Goods, the largest publicly traded U.S. sporting goods store, says it won’t carry Michael Vick jerseys.

Two years for the former NY Giants wide receiver. Someday people will learn that there is no benefit to bringing a handgun to the party.

Each Monday during the season we will release our Select 17. This is our little attempt to provide yet another voice to the lingering debate over who has the best team in college football. Obviously our voice will be far superior to anyone else’s. Adam and I have pulled together 5 other football minds to join ours, all of whom spend far too much time thinking about college football. We’ll update these rankings as needed before the season starts, but you can count on a new poll each Monday morning. We will announce it every week on The Jon Williams Morning Show (93.3 The Eagle, KIGL-FM) in northwest Arkansas around 8:00am.

Memphis officially has not been to a Final Four. Word comes today that Tiger High must vacate its wins from 2007-2008 including it’s run to the NCAA Tournament Championship Game. Geoff Calkins has a great piece today that highlights the sordid past of John Calipari. People often forget his UMass team in 1996 also had to officially vacate its Final Four appearance.
Boston moved back into the AL Wild Card lead with a win over Toronto and a Texas loss to Minnesota.
It was a good day for Cardinal fans after John Smoltz’s signing followed by a late-night win in L.A.
Plaxico Burress will be back in court today for his arraignment. What a moron.
Predator and Predator II are now part-owners of the Miami Dolphins.
The Cowboys open Jerry World on Friday night. This SI piece really highlights just how majestic this place really is.

I’ve always wondered why Bank of the Ozarks is based in Little Rock. I guess maybe so they could be the lottery’s bank?
Here is a perfect example of why people don’t like bureacracy: After years of discussion and planning, the Highway Commission finally voted to apply for federal money that will only help to partially fund a road.
Why in the world would you publicize a “listening tour” but not allow anyone to cover it? It’s a bad day for your organization when you make the Republican Party of Arkansas look open and transparent.
According to US News & World Report, the University of Arkansas remains an upper-tier school for the third year in a row.
Pine Bluff residents continue their efforts to organize a bid for a KIPP School.
A criminal in Bryant has a unique method. Let’s hope police catch this guy soon.
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recently released her list of gifts received while serving in government.

We picked the Hogs to go 8-4, beat Mississippi and go to the Cotton Bowl and we were biased.
We picked Mississippi to struggle as a frontrunner despite a favorable schedule, and go 8-4 with a trip to the Chick Fil A Bowl, and we were Houston Nutt haters.
We picked Alabama to overcome the loss of Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson and Andre Smith and go to the Sugar Bowl.
We picked UGA to the Outback, USC-E to the Music City Bowl, and Auburn to Shrevport.
We picked Florida to win the SEC Championship Game and go to the BCS Title Game and…..OK, everyone did that.
And now, just a few days later, who is in virtual lock step with us and has validated us in a fulfilling way? Was it another fledgling Razorback obsessed blog? Nope.
It’s Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal Constitution–aka “Rip Bobby Petrino to Shreds Central”. I guess he is just a Hog-lovin’, Mississippi/Houston Nutt hatin’ Hog hack.
