Torii Hunter’s Planned Appearances in North Little Rock Scrubbed

Posted by Adam Butler on August 6, 2009

toriiThe Pine Bluff native and MLB All-Star is unable  to play Minor League rehab games at North Little Rock’s Dickey-Stephens Park this weekend, as planned.  He told MLB.com:

“This has been a rough day,” Hunter said. “I was all psyched to go home to Arkansas and play for the Travelers … but today I didn’t pass a strength test after a strenuous workout on the field, and it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to make it home.

“I know everyone in Little Rock was excited about me coming back to play, and I was excited, too. It would have been great. But the resistance test the training staff put me through showed that my right side, where I have the adductor strain, is still not as strong as the left side.

Actual News on a Slow Day

Posted by Brett Kincaid on August 6, 2009

Max over at the Arkansas Times has the full breakdown on the AG’s opinion regarding elected officials taking retirement pay while still working.  What it looks like is a handful of folks found a loophole and jumped through it.  I guess the question remains, though, regarding its legality.

I know this is important what with everyone ready to run Congressmen and legislators out on a rail these days, but all I can think is “Zzzzzzzzzz” when I read this stuff.  It’s probably because I’m a philistine.

Mmmmmm Football….Hog Football.

Posted by Adam Butler on August 6, 2009

The players reported yesterday, and will hit the field today for the first time.  It’s sorta the calm before the storm, because, in my opinion, you can’t tell much until they  put on pads and start banging around.  It’s better than nothing, though.

What battles/positions will Hog fans be focusing on?  Obviously, with all the ultra-talented newcomers in the secondary, that area will be intriguing.  I will be interested to see how the OL progresses.  There is experience returning, but it was largely bad experience.

I will also be waiting for the inevitable preseason injury that happens every year, everywhere, and alters plans and the depth chart.  The Hogs’ can’t afford to have thoise injuries on the DL or at LB, really.

I am just glad eternity that was the offseason is over.

Aerosmith Lead Singer Airlifted

after falling off of the stage at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.  Sounds like he’s probably OK, gut given the way things have been going for celebs lately, I don’t think I would be laughing as I was placed in the chopper.
